Highlights at a glance
Kazakhstan and China are strengthening their agricultural partnership with remarkable growth in trade and joint initiatives. Discussions emphasized expanding bilateral cooperation, mutual trade, and food security. Agricultural trade turnover rose significantly in recent years, with exports from Kazakhstan to China increasing by 35.3% in 2025 and surging by 82.4% in early 2026. Key exports include feed, vegetable oils, flax, sunflower seeds, and rapeseed oil. Both nations signed protocols for 34 types of agricultural products and aim to create a Kazakhstan-China grain trading platform under the Belt and Road Initiative. This platform, based on China's existing National Internet Grain Trading Platform, will boost transactions via competitive bidding and direct negotiation. Focus remains on soybeans, oilseed crops, and long-term contracts for grain supply. Additionally, plans to establish logistics hubs, dry ports, and advancements in storage and processing technologies solidify their shared vision of sustainable supply chains and food security.
